It's officially summer! Time for frozen, no bake treats. You're gonna love this childhood favorite!
As a kid this frozen treat was one of my favorites, not only is it delicious, but growing up it marked the start of summer. It’s a recipe that was handed down to my Mom from my Grandma and then to me.
I can remember it always being a staple at our 4th of July celebrations and looked forward to Grandma’s Strawberry Yummel as she called it. When the recipe was handed down to me I renamed it Yummelicious because hello…its yummy and delicious so Yummelicious seemed more fitting.
My mom was a professional cake decorating when I was a kid, so she would make this in one of her square cake pans, which I do as well. We had a chest freezer growing up and I can’t tell you how many times I would sneak into the laundry room where the freezer resided and pick the streusel topping off the top of the dessert. I would pull pieces here and there as to make it not so obvious but my Mom always knew and busted me. So a word of advice…when you make this, make extra topping because there is always one person in the house that will pick the topping off! :)
We have also created a recipe video for you along with the downloadable recipe card. This recipe would be great with blueberries and strawberries for a festive 4th of July version! Enjoy!
